AI Turns Us Into CEOs

There is an awful lot of talk about AI regulation and compliance these days. The endless debates, the committees, the frameworks, the endless PowerPoint slides that make you feel less healthy by the minute.

But while we in the healthcare industry are obsessing over how to control AI, we’re missing the real story — how AI will liberate health.

This article isn’t about the rules that will restrict AI. It’s about the freedom AI will unleash. Because AI won’t just assist doctors — it will dismantle the millennia-old forces that shaped healthcare as we know it. (see keynote).

Let’s amplify that vision.

The Healthusiasm Era

When I talk about Healthusiasm, I’m talking about how people increasingly want to take control of their health — physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

But AI will reframe that entirely.

In the near future, Healthusiasm will no longer just mean “wanting to live healthily.” It will mean wanting to be the CEO of your own health.

We will all become managers — not of people, but of swarms of AI agents working for us.

Each agent will take care of a part of our wellbeing: tracking our sleep, predicting our stress, scanning our moles, optimizing our workouts, balancing our hormones, even choosing which therapy session we most need today. No more waiting. No more bottlenecks. No more “Please hold the line, your call is important to us.”

Healthcare has always been a waiting game — and not just in the waiting room.

  • We wait to get an appointment.

  • We wait to get a test.

  • We wait for the results.

  • We wait for the diagnosis.

  • We wait for the treatment.

  • And finally, we wait to see if the treatment worked.

Waiting is practically the business model of healthcare.

AI will obliterate that. Bit by bit, algorithm by algorithm, AI Agent by AI Agent .

The Swarm Will See You Now

The change won’t happen overnight — but it’s already happening.

Soon, each of us will command a personal swarm of AI agents helping us navigate everything related to our health.

These AIs will feed us knowledge, context, options, and even emotional guidance faster than any human system ever could. They will help us prioritise what truly matters to us.

That’s not science fiction. That’s the logical conclusion of the “quantified self” movement we started a decade ago — except this time, the self won’t just be quantified. It will be augmented.

The result? We’ll spend less time waiting and more time doing. We’ll remove distractions, inefficiencies, and endless uncertainty. We’ll maximize the leverage we have on our own health.

And we’ll finally grow our own zone of genius, powered by personalized AI insight.

Be the Manager of Your Health

Of course, autonomy comes with new responsibilities. Managing a team of AI health agents is not like showing up to your GP once a year.

You’ll need new skills — managerial skills.

In the past, healthcare was passive:

  • Book an appointment.

  • Show up on time.

  • Follow the doctor’s advice.

In the future, healthcare becomes active. You’ll manage your AIs. You’ll decide which ones to trust, which ones to correct, and which ones to promote to Chief of Sleep Optimisation.

That’s not everyone’s dream job. Not everyone will want to be the CEO of their own health.

But those who do will live in a new kind of healthcare reality — fast, personal, and deeply empowering.

Google's Personal Health Assistant.

Google just revealed what this future might look like in a new research paper. It’s called PHA — the Personal Health Agent. Not one big AI that does it all, but a swarm of smaller ones working together.

Not a monolithic LLM doing everything, but rather a modular, multi-agent architecture.

  • One reads your wearables.

  • One gives medical context.

  • One coaches your habits.

And an orchestrator that people will manage to keeps them all in sync.

Why? Because specialised “sub-agents” may do better in their domain. It’s still a research prototype — not a product — but it shows where we’re heading. A world where your health team is digital, personal, and always on. The waiting era is ending. The orchestrated era has begun.

Conclusion

And that’s the real revolution no one’s quite ready for.

AI won’t just make healthcare faster — it will make you the operating system of your own health & wellbeing.

The dashboards won’t sit in hospitals anymore;

  • they’ll live in your pocket,

  • whispering insights in your ear,

  • nudging habits onto your glasses, and

  • syncing your biology with your goals.

Doctors, insurers, and institutions will orbit around that new centre: you.

Something I've been calling "The Copernican Health Revolution" for many years in my keynotes.

The Healthusiasm era is no longer about people wanting to live healthily. It’s about people running their health — like a business, a mission, a life worth optimising.

We’ll need literacy, ethics, empathy, and yes, new kinds of personal leadership skills to handle it. Because managing your health swarm won’t be about control. It’ll be about coordination — aligning intelligence, intention, and intuition.

The next chapter of healthusiasm won’t be written in the healthcare system alone.

It’ll be written in how you lead your own system.

The future of health isn’t managed for us anymore.
It’s managed by us.
